This update removes the extensions’ ability to load custom JavaScript from external sources, such as Tealium’s custom tool repository server. This enforced update aims to provide Chrome users with additional security by preventing extensions from loading potentially malicious content that isn’t contained within the extension itself. For more information, see Chrome for Developers: Extensions > Manifest V3.
\n
\n
\n
Sidebar support:
\nYou can now open the tools window in the Chrome sidebar, allowing you to work seamlessly alongside on-page content. This is particularly useful for tools like Web Companion, which can now run unobstructed while you interact with your page.
\n
\n
\n
Custom tile sorting:
\nYou can now sort and retain the tile order in both tabs. For accessibility, we’ve implemented a “Click-and-Hold to Unlock” feature similar to iOS. Hold the left mouse button on a tile for 3 seconds to enable “Wobble Mode” and rearrange tiles. This prevents accidental reordering while improving usability.
\n
\n
\n
SSO login support:
\nSingle Sign-On (SSO) functionality is now more reliable. You can set your SSO domain and log in seamlessly – just ensure SSO is enabled on your account. Password and MFA logins are still supported. For SSO enablement, contact your Customer Success Manager.
\n
\n
\n
uTag Debugger:
\nWe’re excited to include the uTag Debugger as an official tool on the Home tab. It’s a valuable resource for troubleshooting and validating deployments.
\n
\n
\n
Built-in feedback form:
\nIn the admin section (accessed by clicking your user avatar), you’ll find two new tabs: About and Feedback. The Feedback tab currently supports bug submissions, pre-populating tool information to help us troubleshoot effectively. The About tab provides build details for support tickets and information about community tools.
\n
\n
\n
Retired features:
\nThe following features have been removed:
\n
\n
Multi-Publish
\n
CDH Copy/Paste
\n
Scan Companion
\n
Verify - Test Recorder\nPlease contact support if your workflow has been affected by this change.
\n
\n
\n
\n
Updated tools:
\n
\n
Tealium University, Tealium Docs, and UTag Debugger are now available as separate launch tiles.
\n
The TLC tile has been renamed to Knowledge Base.
\n
\n
\n
\n
Early Access tools:
\nEarly Access tools now include a callout bubble, indicating they are publicly available but still in the early stages of release.
\n
\n
\n
<img src=\"https://docs.tealium.com/images/iq-tag-management/tealium-tools-version-3-comparison.png\"\n alt=\"Screenshot comparing the old and new home page and the new Tool Catalog tab\"\n title=\"Screenshot comparing the old and new home page and the new Tool Catalog tab\"/>\n \n
\n"

            "body": "
How it Works
\n
After clicking Start Trace in the tool, once per Customer Data Hub session, a QR code is automatically injected into the main browser window each time you start a new trace.
\n
QR codes are generated for each platform (Android or iOS). After you scan the appropriate QR code with the appropriate mobile device’s camera, click the link from the QR code to start the app and pass trace parameters to the Tealium SDK. The Tealium SDK receives the trace ID (along with other parameters) and inserts the trace ID into the data layer for the current session
\n
All subsequent events are recorded in the trace session until you end the session or leave the trace.
\n
The following diagram illustrates how it works:
<img src=\"https://docs.tealium.com/images/server-side/screen-shot-2020-09-11-at-3.23.40-pm.png\"\n alt=\"Screen Shot 2020-09-11 at 3.23.40 PM.png\"\n title=\"Screen Shot 2020-09-11 at 3.23.40 PM.png\"/>\n \n

\n
Install
\n
To use this tool, you must first add it your Chrome browser using the Tealium Tools extension. To install this extension, see Tealium Tools Browser Extension.
\n
In the Add by URL text field, paste the URL:
https://solutions.tealium.net/hosted/tealiumTools/mobile-trace/tool.json

\n
When installation has completed, launch the Mobile Trace Tool icon from the Tealium Tools extension.
\n
URL Schemes
\n
To use the Mobile Trace tool, determine which URLs are handled by your Android and iOS apps to configure the URL schemes.
\n
The QR code trace feature launches your app from a URL and listens for a specific query parameter. To launch your app directly from a URL, your app must have registered itself to handle specific domains.
\n
Typically, most apps already handle specific URLs. For example, if your website domain is
https://mycompany.com
, your app registers itself as a handler for this domain and, if your app is installed on a user’s device, the user is prompted to launch the link in your app instead of within a browser.
\n
Some apps register custom URL schemes instead of
http
or
https
, for example
mycompanyapp://
. These also work with the Mobile Trace Tool.
\n
Once you have established which URL schemes launch your app, enter these into the input fields in the Mobile Trace Tool. The tool supports different schemes for Android and iOS if necessary, but in general, these are the same for both platforms.
\n
<img src=\"https://docs.tealium.com/images/server-side/screen-shot-2020-09-11-at-3.41.58-pm.png\"\n alt=\"Screen Shot 2020-09-11 at 3.41.58 PM.png\"\n title=\"Screen Shot 2020-09-11 at 3.41.58 PM.png\"/>\n \n
\n
Click Save next to each URL scheme to store the setting in the browser’s localStorage. Click the blue pencil icon to edit the URL schemes as needed.
\n
Trace
\n
The following describes how to start and leave a trace using the Mobile Trace Tool.
\n
Start Trace
\n
Before starting a trace, verify that you are in the server-side Customer Data Hub. Click Start Trace in the Mobile Trace Tool, which starts a new trace and adds the Mobile Trace QR codes into the trace window.
\n
<img src=\"https://docs.tealium.com/images/server-side/screen-shot-2020-09-11-at-3.46.20-pm.png\"\n alt=\"Screen Shot 2020-09-11 at 3.46.20 PM.png\"\n title=\"Screen Shot 2020-09-11 at 3.46.20 PM.png\"/>\n \n
\n
After you have started a trace once from the Tealium Tools UI, close the Tealium Tools UI and you don’t need to use it for the rest of your session.
\n
Subsequent traces are started directly from Customer Data Hub, and the QR code automatically refreshes each time a new trace starts. Scan the QR code with your device’s camera, click the link to launch your app and automatically begin tracing. Any Tealium events generated by your app after joining the trace are recorded in your trace session.
\n
<img src=\"https://docs.tealium.com/images/server-side/screen-shot-2020-09-11-at-3.48.06-pm.png\"\n alt=\"Screen Shot 2020-09-11 at 3.48.06 PM.png\"\n title=\"Screen Shot 2020-09-11 at 3.48.06 PM.png\"/>\n \n
\n
Leave Trace
\n
If you leave a trace session without ending it, you are able to rejoin the same trace from a different device without losing the history of that trace session.
\n
To leave a trace:
\n
\n
Select the Leave Trace checkbox in the trace UI
\n
Scan the QR code again with your device’s camera
\n
Click the link for your device to no longer participate in the trace session
\n
\n
End of Visit (AudienceStream)
\n
Testing “End of Visit” actions in Tealium AudienceStream requires a signal to immediately end the visitor’s session, otherwise it is necessary to wait for the session to expire normally.
\n
In the Mobile Trace Tool, end the session immediately by selecting the Kill Visitor Session checkbox, which adds a parameter to the QR code that makes the SDK send a
kill_visitor_session
event.
\n
<img src=\"https://docs.tealium.com/images/server-side/screen-shot-2020-09-11-at-3.50.27-pm.png\"\n alt=\"Screen Shot 2020-09-11 at 3.50.27 PM.png\"\n title=\"Screen Shot 2020-09-11 at 3.50.27 PM.png\"/>\n \n
\n"
